I’m going to NYC next month and went last winter so I can help you out on cool stuff there. I reccomend staying at a hotel that’s near NYC but not in it because of the crime rate but I’m staying at the Sheraton in northen New Jersey. It’s a great hotel too and not too expensive. In NYC I would say visit Dylan’s Candy Shop because it’s amazing to see and kids will love the candy! Also you should visit FAO Shwartz because it’s like a HUGE toy store and it has a lot to see! You can visit the Metropolitan Musuem of Art. The kids will like the art and the adults would be fascinated too. You might wanna see a kid and adult-friendly broadway show. I’m seeing Hairspray and I know many kids and adults that liked that show. The weather will be pretty warm so you can wear shorts and t-shirts but bring a pair of jeans and a jacket in case it’s a cold, rainy day. I hope this helped and have fun in NYC :]

Coney Island isn’t closed. The commute out there might be a bit much for young kids if they get bored easily, but it’s a really fun place to go.

The Tenement Museum in the Lower East Side (on Orchard at Delancey) has a really great tour - every time I pass by there’s a group of school kids taking the tour, so I’m guessing it’s fun and educational.

    These are cheap hotels:
as well as the Hotel Wolcott. Generally hotels in K-Town/Koreatown (literally a few blocks away from Macy’s - check out their wooden escalator, it’s fun) are the cheapest, so if you want to stay in the middle of the city those are your best bet. K-town is also within easy walking distance of the Empire State Building, Times Square, and Penn Station. FWIW, the crime rate in Manhattan is lower than the outer boroughs, so that other tourist is wrong. NYC is the safest big city in the US, just use common sense and you’ll be fine. :)

Summer is muggy and gross!! Also the most expensive, hotel-wise. Bring sunscreen and very comfortable shoes. :) Have fun!
