Apparently, climbing the NYT building by hand is the latest rage! *laughter* Try to get onto the Cash Cab! You may be able to do this by signing up at. The show is associated with the Discovery Channel, and the host/driver LOVES to find people who DON’T live in NYC.

This MAY be because a lot of them seem to have difficulty with supplying correct answers to his seemingly easy questions.

Scream that Matt Lauer is gay during a taping of the Today show. Now THAT is an idea! Be sure to have the cam phone running when you do this! *laughter*

Well, my assumption is that you are speaking about NYC and not NY State. Not too many people outside NYC go to the city. It’s a tourist trap, afterall.

    - Jump off the top of the Empire State building.
    - Take a crap in the Hudson.
    - Visit New Jersey and take a crap there.
    - Dance with the naked cowboy.
    - Tell Matt Lauer he’s gay at a taping of the Today show.

If you will be here in July head to the Band-shell area in Central Park (to the grounds surrounding Summer stage),

On July 23 - Mark Knopfler (Dire Straits) will be having a concert there. Don’t be surprised if the band he puts together will be All Star quality.

Then on July 29th Crosby, Stills and Nash take the stage. Tickets may already be sold out, but bring a blanket and a picnic basket.

For starters, you can try to climb onto the Wall Street Bull. Take a picture of yourself with the Naked Cowboy. Take a tour of the gold vault in the NY Fed building - Seriously, they have 60 minute tours of the building, including the gold vault, on weekdays -. Go on a foodie tour in a cab with Famous Fat Dave -. Take a 20 minute nap on the 24th floor of the Empire State Building with Metronaps -.

As for the shopping, If you’re looking for designer threads, but don’t want to shop in the pricey stores, there’s three good choices:
    Century 21:
    Gabay’s:
    Syms:

    Mug a cop

Stretch your mouth over a parking meter

Go over to Staten Island and holler in the Italian section

Get in a cab and tell the hack As fast you can possibly go, take me to the Empire State building

Go to Yankee Stadium and during a non-Red Sox game, wear Red Sox outfits and yell Yankees SUCK

here are some suggestions and tips from our personal experience:

we went to NY for a week.
    we had a blast!!!

you should visit Serendipity for dessert :)
there’s a book called Lonely Planet (NYC)
it is a really really helpful book for tourists like us because it includes walking tours, etc, and places to eat.

by the way, instead of waiting for hours in line to get to the statue of liberty, you may opt to have the NY waterway tour instead. This way, you will save enough time to tour other parts of the city :) there’s also the famous BULL at the financial district :) you should also try the yummiest Pizza Margherita at ‘Lil Frankie in East Village ^,^

if you have more time, try walking the stretch of Brooklyn Bridge.
this serves as an exercise too.. hihihi
also, do visit Saint Patricks’s Cathedral at 5th avenue.
    don’t miss to go inside.
    it’s wonderful!!!
we also went to Top of the Rock instead of the Empire State Building to avoid the long line hihihi because we were afraid we won’t have enough time to see other parts of NYC :)
for shopping, you may want to visit Century 21, just across the former WTC.
you should have lunch/brunch at Cafe lalo!!! or at Sarabeth’s :) we chose Cafe Lalo hihihi because of the ambiance and because it’s famous.

To relax, try having a picnic at Central Park.
we chose to eat at the top of one huge rock there to have e good view of the whole central park :) then, we went to MET (entrance is by donation only, you don’t have to give 20 USD)
if you’re a techie like my friends, you may want to visit the MAC store. it is now a tourist spot because of its unique architecture :p
    DON’T MISS eating at PARADOU!!!
    it’s a MUST!!!
    trust me on this!

you also gotta watch a broadway show! definitely!
    there’s WICKED and SPAMALOT :)
