i am going there on holiday in october and i am having a helicopter ride and going up the empire state building .where is the best place to shop for bargain clothes and chirstmas gifts?

   chinatown ( canaL street) in manhattan

   Probably as far away from the central part as you can.. say, Atlanta, Georgia

   Harlem is great, and in the heat of the summer check out rock away beach. The whole city is great, but avoid South Bronx. That was the only place that I felt vulnerable.
